— The Love Story —

The Party She Almost Skipped

Elizabeth first met Yassin at a birthday celebration she had almost not attended. For someone she barely knew. The kind of night you nearly cancel, and then you don’t, and everything changes.

  • Their meeting was unexpected and effortless
  • A love built quietly, over time, through trust and choosing each other
  • A story that always felt like it was meant to find its way to them

— The Challenge —

Four Days Before the Wedding, the Storms Arrived

Just four days before the wedding, thunderstorms swept across the UAE with unusual intensity. Roads were flooded. Uncertainty was everywhere. What should have been the calmest week of their lives became one of constant calls, contingency plans, and difficult decisions.

The couple made the incredibly difficult decision to shift the wedding date. And somehow, everyone still showed up.

What Happened on the Wedding Day Itself

The weather was not done yet. Strong desert winds swept across Bab Al Shams throughout the entire afternoon.

  •  Final table styling had to be held back until the last possible moment
  • Centrepieces and candles were set just minutes before dinner service began
  • Team members physically held decor elements in place as the wind threatened to carry them away
  • Vendors navigated waterlogged streets to reach the venue

Nothing about the day was effortless behind the scenes. Yet for the couple and their guests, it all felt seamless. Calm. Beautiful. Intentional.

What It Takes to Make the Impossible Look Easy

This wedding was a masterclass in what great planning actually means. Not checklists. Not spreadsheets. It means showing up in the wind, in the uncertainty, and making sure the people at the centre feel only one thing: support.

How Ikigaii Made It Happen

  • Planning began 6 to 12 months ahead, building deep vendor relationships.
  • Contingency frameworks were already in place before the storms arrived.
  • Real-time coordination between planning, decor, and logistics teams throughout.
  • In-house decor production facility (3,500 sq ft, Dubai) allowed fast, flexible adaptation.
  • Direct communication with every vendor, no middlemen, no missed briefings.

— The Emotional Moments —

The First Look She Never Planned to Have

Elizabeth had always been against a first look. She wanted the aisle. The tradition. The anticipation. But in the middle of everything happening around them, they decided together to give themselves one quiet moment before the ceremony.

“And it changed everything.”

— Elizabeth, on the moment she had almost not taken

  • No crowd. No noise. Just the two of them, standing still
  • Yassin’s reaction, up close and unfiltered
  • A pause before the day swept them away
  • One of the most meaningful memories of the entire wedding

— The Ceremony —

The Aisle, the Music, and a Moment the Desert Will Remember

As Elizabeth began walking toward Yassin, a live trio began playing their song. Softly. Through the dunes of Bab Al Shams. The music, the candlelight, the open desert sky, the faces of people who had crossed continents to be there.

It all came together in the kind of moment you cannot manufacture. You can only create the conditions for it. And then trust the love to do the rest.

  • A live trio played the couple’s song during the processional
  • Guests who could not travel watched via live Zoom stream
  • An overwhelming sense of calm replaced weeks of uncertainty
  • The desert air, described by Elizabeth, suddenly felt completely still

— The Design —

Desert Luxe: Every Detail, Every Decision

The overall aesthetic was Desert Luxe meets Modern Romantic. Nothing forced. Nothing overdone. Every element felt like it belonged there, in that light, under that sky.

The Ikigaii in-house decor team built every element of this vision from concept to execution. When the wind arrived on the day, they adapted without losing the aesthetic thread. That is only possible when your planner and your decor studio are the same team.

— The Couple’s Words —

What Elizabeth & Yassin Said

“Despite a season marked by uncertainty, from global unrest to last-minute weather disruptions, the experience remained grounded in steady reassurance. We were supported at every turn, and in the end, what could have unravelled instead became something fully realised: the wedding we had imagined, brought to life against the odds.”

— Elizabeth & Yassin Fares

When asked to describe their wedding in three words:

“ Intimate. Atmospheric. Love. ”

— Final Thoughts —

A Wedding That Proved Love Is the Plan That Never Fails

Floods. Date changes. Desert wind. Centrepieces assembled by hand minutes before dinner. Vendors driving through waterlogged streets.

And on the other side of all of it: a wedding so calm, so beautiful, and so deeply felt that the couple described it in three words.

Intimate. Atmospheric. Love.

Elizabeth and Yassin did not have a perfect wedding in the Instagram sense of the word. They got something better. They had a wedding that was tested by everything, and still came out as the most meaningful day of their lives.

At Ikigaii Planners, this is what we are here for.
